A fabric laundry basket that mounts on the wall with adhesive rather than screws, and folds flat against it when empty. Two problems solved at once: no drilling in a rented bathroom, and no bulky hamper taking up floor space in a small room.

Folding is what makes it work in a tight space. A conventional hamper occupies the same footprint whether it holds one shirt or a full load; this one collapses to a few centimetres deep and opens out as it fills. The fabric is a wipeable canvas-style weave rather than a loose cotton, so a damp towel does not leave a mark on the wall behind it, and any splashes wipe off rather than soaking through. It suits a small en-suite or a shared student flat particularly well, anywhere floor space is tight and a free-standing hamper would simply be in the way.

Two sizes and two colours. 48 x 36 x 12 cm suits a bathroom or a bedroom for a few days of washing; 58 x 41 x 14 cm holds a full load for a household. Grey is the more forgiving with marks, beige the warmer. Clean the wall thoroughly and let the adhesive cure fully before loading it, and keep the weight sensible rather than filling it with wet towels.
