Fabric Sconce with Reading Light

A fabric shade for the main light and a separate LED spotlight on a flexible arm below it. Two sources on one fixture, switched independently, which is the arrangement a bedside wall light actually needs and rarely has.

The fabric shade gives a warm, diffused glow for the room; the reading arm bends to put a defined beam on a page without lighting the bed beside you. In a guest room that means one fixture serves whoever is staying, whatever they are doing.

Three colours. Black is the most graphic against a pale wall. White is the quietest. Beige is the warmest and softens the whole fixture. The main light takes a standard E27 bulb, so brightness and warmth are yours to choose and easy to change later. The fabric shade is a drum rather than a cone, which spreads the light more evenly across the wall behind it than a tapered shade would. The reading arm holds its position once bent, so it does not need re-adjusting every time the light is switched back on. Both lights are wired to a single wall plate, so only one point of connection is needed behind the fixture. Installation should be carried out by a competent person, with the circuit isolated before work begins.
