Vintage Bubble Glass Pendant

Amber glass with bubbles suspended through the material, so the shade catches light at hundreds of small points rather than passing it evenly. Those bubbles are formed during blowing, which means the pattern differs in every shade and cannot be reproduced by moulding.

Two heights on the same 25 cm diameter. At 29 cm tall it is a proper hanging globe with presence over a dining table. At 17 cm it is squatter and sits closer to the ceiling, which suits a hallway or a room where headroom is tight. Both heights use the same fitting and cable, so the choice is really about ceiling height and how much presence you want over the table.

Gold is the warmer fitting and pushes the piece towards mid-century; black is graphic and more contemporary against the amber glass. Amber tints the light noticeably, so this is an atmosphere fixture rather than a bright one. Over a table, hang the bottom around 75 to 85 cm above the surface. Installation should be carried out by a competent person. Wipe the glass with a soft, dry cloth rather than spraying cleaner directly onto the bubbles, since liquid can sit in the recesses.
