Scandinavian Curved Panel Sconce

A curved iron panel with a softly glowing orb set against it, so the panel catches the light along its inner face and throws a gradient onto the wall behind. The curve is doing the diffusing, which is why there is no shade on the fixture at all.

Because nothing points into the room, there is no glare at eye level. That makes it usable in a hallway you pass close to and beside a bed at head height, where a conventional shaded sconce would be uncomfortable to sit next to.

Two finishes with quite different effects. Black holds a hard graphic outline against pale plaster and makes the orb read brighter by contrast. White is quieter and lets the fixture merge into the wall until it is switched on. A pair either side of a bed reads better than a single on a wide wall. The iron panel is roughly 3cm deep, shallow enough to sit in a narrow hallway without catching a coat sleeve. Because the orb itself is barely visible from most angles, the fixture reads as a calm shape on the wall by day and only becomes a light source after dark. Installation should be carried out by a competent person.
