Aluminium alloy with a matte finish, a domed head, and no cable. Tap the head to change the brightness. That is the whole interface, which is the point: a lamp used on a restaurant table or a bedside at midnight should not require finding a switch on a lead.
The dome contains the source so the light falls downward in a soft circle rather than spreading across a room. That makes it an atmosphere lamp: a dining table, a bar, a windowsill, a bedside. Several of them along a long table give a restaurant effect that no single overhead fixture achieves.
Five finishes, and the metal is what carries them. Grey and black are the most restrained. Silver is cooler and more modern. Gold and champagne are the warmest and reflect the light back with a soft glow at the base. It charges over USB and runs cordless for a long evening, so it goes outside on a summer table as easily as it sits indoors. Run it on a lower setting where you can, since the brightest level draws the charge down quickest and a dining table rarely needs it. If it has been outside, bring it in overnight rather than leaving it on a damp table. Wipe with a dry cloth to keep the matte finish even.
