Smooth aluminium contours in soft macaron colours, kept compact enough that the colour reads as an accent rather than a statement. Aluminium is the right choice at this size: it keeps the body thin and handles heat better than a plastic housing.

The light is focused rather than spread, dropping downward in a defined pool instead of washing the room. That makes it useful beside a bed for reading, or along a hallway where a series of small pools marks the route without lighting the whole corridor.

Four colours, each in warm or cold white. Beige is the most neutral and disappears against a pale wall. Green and pink are the decorative options. Red is the boldest and best used singly. Warm white suits bedrooms and living areas; cold white is clearer for a hallway or a workspace. Choose at purchase, since the LED is integrated. Installation should be carried out by a competent person. The aluminium body stays cool enough to touch even after being on for an evening, since the LED is set back from the outer casing rather than against it. Mounted at bedside height, the downward pool lands on a book rather than a pillow, which is the detail that makes it genuinely useful for reading rather than just decorative. Choose the red only where the wall itself is fairly neutral, since it is bold enough to clash with a patterned paper.
