Natural wood paired with a matte metal shade that rotates on its mount, so the beam can be aimed after the fixture is installed. The wood is the warm element and the metal keeps the shade thin, which is the combination that makes Scandinavian lighting read as calm rather than cold.

Rotation is what makes it practical. Turned down it is a reading light beside a bed; turned up it washes the wall and becomes ambient. In a pair either side of a bed, each person can set their own angle, which is the argument for this over a fixed sconce. The rotation is stiff enough to hold an angle without drifting, so it does not need retightening every few weeks. Because the shade sits so close to the wall, it also suits a narrow corridor where a projecting fixture would be knocked by passing shoulders.

Five pastel colours: grey is the neutral, blue and green the coolest, pink and yellow the warmest. All are muted enough to sit in an adult bedroom without looking like nursery fittings.
