It fixes to the surface rather than into a void, which makes it the practical option in a flat with a concrete ceiling, a rented property, or a room where the plasterwork is not worth disturbing.

The body is aluminium with a frosted acrylic face, so the light comes out evenly across the diffuser rather than as a bright point you can look straight into. Aluminium also handles the heat better than a plastic housing, which is what keeps the output stable over the life of the fitting.

Two sizes, small at 9W and large at 15W, and two frame colours. White disappears into a white ceiling; black reads as a deliberate detail and suits a modern kitchen or a hallway with dark fittings.
