Nordic Ribbed Resin Wall Lamp

The body is cast resin with a ribbed surface, which gives it the look of fluted plaster without the weight or the fragility. Against a plain wall the ribbing throws its own fine shadows during the day, so the lamp is doing something even before it is switched on.

Light leaves it upwards rather than outwards, washing the wall above and letting the glow spill down softly. That makes it a mood fixture rather than a task one: good beside a bed, along a hallway, or in a pair either side of a fireplace or an accent wall. It sits close to the wall, so it does not catch a shoulder in a narrow corridor. Because the wash is upward, ceiling colour matters: a white or pale ceiling bounces the light back into the room, while a dark one keeps the effect close to the wall.

Four finishes with quite different characters. White is architectural and disappears into pale plaster. Grey is cooler and more urban. Brown and green are the warmest and suit a room with wood, plants or textured textiles already in it. Installation should be carried out by a competent person, with the circuit isolated at the consumer unit before work begins. Cast resin is lighter than plaster, so standard plasterboard fixings are usually enough.
