Nordic Round Glass Wall Sconce

A rounded glass form held in a slim metal mount, lit from within so the whole shade glows rather than showing a source. The glass is tinted through the material rather than coated, so the colour deepens where the curve thickens and lightens across the face.

Smoke grey is the cooler of the two and reads almost sculptural when unlit, closer to a dark object on the wall than a light fitting. Amber is the warmer and turns the surrounding wall golden once switched on, which suits a bedroom or a snug where the sconce is doing atmosphere rather than illumination.

Both come with warm white light, which is the right pairing for tinted glass; a cooler source would flatten the colour and make the shade look grey. The fixture sits close to the wall, so it works in a hallway without catching a shoulder, and a pair either side of a bed frames the headboard neatly. Installation should be carried out by a competent person. Mount it at around 1.4 to 1.5 metres beside a bed so the glow falls at shoulder height rather than into your eyes when you sit up. A soft dry cloth keeps the glass clear; sprays leave a film that shows once it is lit.
