Nordic Beam Wood and Iron Sconce

Matte painted iron paired with solid wood, shaped into a soft-cornered beam that sits flat against the wall. The two materials are used honestly: the iron carries the colour and the structure, the wood is left with its grain visible as the warm element.

Light leaves the fixture directionally rather than spreading into the room, so it washes the wall below and above rather than glaring at eye level. That makes it usable in a hallway you walk past closely, and beside a bed where a wider spread would light the whole room.

Black is the more graphic of the two finishes and holds a hard outline against pale plaster. White is quieter and lets the wood accent do the work. A pair either side of a bed or along a corridor reads as a deliberate rhythm rather than two separate fittings. Installation should be carried out by a competent person, with the circuit isolated before work begins. The wood section is a solid strip rather than a veneer, so light surface marks can be sanded back gently rather than needing the whole fixture replaced. Mounted at roughly eye height either side of a hallway mirror, the downward wash avoids the harsh shadows that an overhead light throws across a face. Wipe the iron with a dry cloth; the matte paint marks more easily under a damp one than a gloss finish would.
