A hand-blown glass cap with swirl patterns running through the body, in the tradition of Murano decorative glass. Because the swirls are formed in the molten glass rather than printed on, they distort and deepen where the shade curves, and no two lamps carry exactly the same pattern.
Lit, the swirls become the feature: the light passing through picks out the colour bands and casts a faint version of them onto the surface below. Unlit, it holds up as an object on a shelf, which is the harder test for a decorative lamp and the reason this shape has come back into fashion. The base is weighted more heavily than the glass above it, so the lamp sits stably on a bedside table even when knocked, rather than tipping the way a top-heavy decorative piece can. Handled carefully, the swirl pattern inside the glass stays crisp for years rather than clouding.
Stepless dimming rather than fixed levels means it works as a bright accent or as the last low light of the evening. It runs from USB, so it can be powered from a plug adapter, a laptop or a power bank. Three finishes: white is the most neutral, beige the warmest, and pink the most decorative.
