Black and Gold Up Down Wall Light

A curved black body with a gold inner face, throwing light both up the wall and down it. The gold is what makes the difference: it warms the beam on its way out, so the two bands of light on the wall have a soft amber cast rather than the flat white of a plain aluminium fixture.

Dual-beam lighting is about the wall as much as the room. A single fixture creates a symmetrical highlight above and below itself, and a run of three or four along a corridor or an exterior wall builds a rhythm that a row of downlights cannot. There is no glare at eye level because nothing points into the room.

It is weather rated, so the same fixture works on a house front, a garden wall or a porch as well as indoors in a hallway or beside a bed. Warm white is the softer choice for interiors and entrances; cold white is crisper and better where the light is doing security or wayfinding work. The body is powder-coated to resist corrosion outdoors, and the gold inner face is a separate anodised insert rather than a painted layer, so it keeps its tone even after seasons outside. A sealed gasket at the wall plate is what earns the fixture its outdoor rating, rather than the finish alone. Outdoor installation should follow the supplied instructions, with wiring by a competent person.
