A carbon steel splitting cone that turns a log into kindling without swinging an axe. The log is set on the blade and struck from above with a mallet or a second log, so the cutting edge never moves and your hands stay away from it.
That fixed-blade principle is the whole safety argument. An axe has to be swung accurately at a small target; this does not move at all, which makes it far more forgiving for someone preparing kindling in poor light or with cold hands. That difference matters most in the dark or cold, exactly when a swung axe is hardest to aim and a fixed blade is easiest to trust.
Carbon steel holds an edge through repeated use and resists chipping better than cast alternatives. Two sizes: small for a wood burner or a fire pit, large where bigger logs need breaking down. A cloth bag is included for storage and carrying, which matters for a camping trip. Keep it away from children, use it on a stable surface, and store it in the bag with the edge covered.
