Industrial Adjustable Spotlight

A black metal cage frame with three adjustable heads, each rotating on its own mount. That independence is the point: one ceiling point can light a worktop, a picture and a doorway at once, which a fixed fitting cannot do.

The cage shades leave the bulb visible, so the choice of bulb becomes part of the look. A filament bulb suits the industrial styling; a plain opal bulb softens it considerably. It takes E14 fittings, so both options are easy to source and swap later.

At 20 x 23 cm it is compact enough for a hallway, a small kitchen or a bedroom where a larger track would dominate the ceiling. The matte black frame pairs with black handles, taps and frames elsewhere in a room, and suits industrial, rustic and loft interiors. Installation should be carried out by a competent person, with the circuit isolated at the consumer unit before work begins. Wipe the cage frame with a dry cloth every so often, since dust collects on the ridges and shows more against matte black than it would on a pale finish. Over a kitchen island, angling one head at the worktop and the other two into the room gives task and ambient light from a single ceiling point, which is useful where a second fitting is not practical. The compact footprint also means it can go into a stairwell or landing where a full track light would not fit.
