Textured metallic rays radiating from a central disc, with the light escaping behind them so the wall gains a halo rather than a beam. The texture on the rays is what catches that reflected light and makes the fixture read as sculpture rather than as a fitting.

Because the light is entirely indirect, there is no glare from any angle. That means it can go at eye level on a feature wall, above a console or behind a sofa, where a directional sconce would be uncomfortable to sit beside.

Two finishes with very different moods. Orange is the warmer and more literal reading of a rising sun, and it carries colour into the room. White is quieter and lets the texture and the halo do the work, which suits a more restrained scheme. It sits flat to the wall. The rays are cut from thin sheet metal rather than moulded, which is why the shadow pattern stays crisp even from a low angle. At around 30cm across, it holds its own as a single fixture rather than needing to be grouped with another. The finish is powder-coated rather than painted, so it wears evenly rather than chipping at the tips of the rays. Installation should be carried out by a competent person, with the circuit isolated before work begins.
