Halo Ring Spotlight Wall Light

A circular iron frame with a spotlight set inside it, so the light is aimed through the ring rather than from it. The frame does no lighting work at all: it is there to give the fixture a shape and to separate the beam from the wall behind.

That focused beam makes it more useful than most decorative sconces. It can be aimed at a picture, a shelf, a chair or a stretch of wall, so the fixture works as accent lighting rather than only as an object. The ring reads as sculpture during the day. Dust the iron frame with a dry cloth to keep the satin finish even, and avoid touching the spotlight lens directly, as fingerprints show more on a focused beam than a diffused one. Aim it at an angle rather than straight on for the most even wash across a picture or shelf.

Satin gold is the warmer finish and the more decorative of the two; black is graphic and holds a clean outline against pale plaster. Each comes in warm or cold white. Warm suits a bedroom or living room; cold white is crisper for picking out artwork or a display shelf. Installation should be carried out by a competent person, with the circuit isolated before work begins.
