An 800 ml box with three removable compartments, so the dividers come out for washing and the layout can be changed for what is actually being packed. Removable is the useful word: fixed dividers trap food in the corners and dictate the meal. The compartments clip in rather than simply resting in place, so a bag can be tipped on its side in transit without the sections sliding into each other.

Eight hundred millilitres is the right size for a child's school lunch or a lighter adult meal, where a larger box just means half of it comes home untouched. The three sections keep a main, a side and something sweet apart in transit. White reads as fairly neutral for an adult desk lunch, while grey shows less wear over a term of daily use in a school bag.

Made from food-grade materials and available as a box on its own or as a set with accessories. Two colours, white and grey, both plain enough to name or label without clashing. Check the lid is properly closed before it goes in a bag, and supervise younger children opening and closing it. Wipe the outer box down rather than soaking it, and let the compartments air dry fully before stacking them back inside.
