Crystal Halo LED Ceiling Light

A ring of cut crystal set around a slim LED disc, so the fixture is only 6 cm deep but still throws the refracted sparkle you would normally need a hanging chandelier to get. At 50 cm across it reads as a proper centrepiece rather than a functional flush mount.

That depth is the reason to choose it. In a bedroom or a flat with a standard ceiling, a chandelier hangs into the room and gets in the way; this sits flat against the ceiling and still gives the light some structure. The crystal ring catches whatever else is lit in the room during the day, so it does something even when switched off. Cut crystal needs an occasional dust to keep working, since a dull ring stops refracting and the fixture reads as a plain disc.

Three frame finishes: black is the most graphic against a white ceiling, gold the warmest and most traditional, white the most discreet. Each is offered in warm white or cold white, and the fitting is remote-controlled so brightness can be set from across the room rather than at the wall. Installation should be carried out by a competent person, with the circuit isolated before work begins. Keep the remote somewhere fixed, since there is no wall dimmer to fall back on.
