Each shade is blown from a single gather of molten glass, so the globe has no seam and the wall thickness varies slightly across the form. That variation is what makes handblown glass read differently from moulded: the light passing through is never quite uniform, and the surface has small irregularities that catch it.
The form itself is deliberately plain. A simple globe, no ribbing, no faceting, nothing to distract from the material. It is the sort of fixture that works in a room already full of texture, where another patterned shade would be one thing too many, and it suits a run of three above an island as readily as a single point. A run of three looks best when the shades are ordered so the tonal variation is not clustered at one end.
Three tones. Clear shows the glass most honestly and gives the most light. Smoke grey is the moodiest and reads almost solid when unlit. Amber is the warmest and turns an evening room golden. Because each is individually made, no two are identical. Hang the bottom around 75 to 85 cm above a tabletop. Installation should be carried out by a competent person. Small bubbles and a faint band of thicker glass are part of the process rather than faults.
