Bauhaus Tiered Glass Pendant

Flat discs of tinted glass stacked on a slim suspension, in one, two or three tiers. Light escapes between the layers as well as through them, so the fixture reads as a series of glowing bands rather than a single lit shade.

Tier count changes the character completely. A single tier at 11 cm high is horizontal and quiet, right above a worktop or in a run along an island. Two tiers at 22 cm gain presence over a dining table. Three tiers at 33 cm become a small chandelier and need ceiling height to carry them. Measure the drop from ceiling to table before choosing a tier count, since the three-tier version needs noticeably more headroom than the single disc. Dust each tinted disc separately with a dry cloth, working along the layers rather than across them to avoid disturbing the suspension.

Diameters run from 25 to 45 cm, so the fixture can be scaled to the table rather than the reverse. Amber is the warmest and most classic, green the most saturated, smoke grey the most restrained. Over a table, hang the bottom around 75 to 85 cm above the surface. Installation should be carried out by a competent person, with the circuit isolated before work begins.
