Because the diffuser is angled, turning the lamp changes what it does. Facing a wall it becomes indirect light and the room brightens without a visible source. Turned towards a desk it lights a working area. The same lamp handles both without any moving parts to loosen over time. The diffuser is frosted rather than clear, so there is no visible filament or hotspot when you look directly at the angled face, only an even wash of light. Because there are no moving parts, it also has nothing to loosen or rattle if it is dusted or nudged over time.

Dimming runs across the full range rather than in fixed steps, so it covers a bright working level and a low evening glow. Black is the more graphic of the two finishes and holds its outline against a pale wall; white is quieter and reads as sculptural rather than as a light fitting. Wipe the body with a dry cloth to keep the matte finish even.
