Astra Spiral Globe Wall Light

A metal band spiralling around frosted glass globes, so the frame appears to wind through the fixture rather than simply hold it. That spiral is the design, and it is what makes the piece read as sculpture when it is switched off. Dust the metal band with a dry cloth, working along the spiral rather than across it so grit does not scratch the frosted glass beneath. The two-globe version needs slightly more clear wall either side than the single, so measure before committing to a feature wall.

One globe or two changes the scale entirely. A single is an accent beside a bed, a doorway or a mirror. Two globes span a wider stretch and become the fixture on a feature wall or above a console, where a single would be lost.

Gold is the warmer finish and the more decorative; black is graphic and holds its outline against pale plaster. Each comes in warm or cold white. Frosted glass hides the source completely, so there is no glare at eye level in a hallway or beside a bed. Choose gold where the rest of the room already carries warm metal tones, and reach for black where the wall itself is the more decorative element and the fixture should stay in the background.
